* The Ronald J. LaPorte Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of IPLAC’s 108th President by his widow, Jill LaPorte. Mr. LaPorte was a highly regarded patent attorney, who worked for many years at Kraft Foods. He was a leader in both the scientific and legal communities. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IPLAC Educational Foundation to a student who excels in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

** Dolores K. Hanna was a talented trademark lawyer, a 1952 graduate of Chicago-Kent IIT College of Law and, served as IPLAC’s first women president in 1984. The best brief award in INTA’s Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, which she helped create, is named in her honor. She was a mentor to at least two generations of IP lawyers.

*** The Oliver T. Ong Memorial Scholarship was granted in 2020 by his friends and colleagues. Oliver was a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern University School of Law. Oliver practiced patent law for more than 15 years as part of Marshall Gerstein & Borun’s Electrical & Computer Technologies Group. Oliver was a treasured friend, talented patent attorney, and successful entrepreneur.
