GOLF SHOTGUN SCRAMBLE RULES

Rules:

  • A shotgun format means that all teams will tee off at the same time from different holes, and will play a full round of eighteen holes.
  • A scramble format means that all four team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker.  The other players pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot.  All four players hit their shot from the chosen spot.  This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts.
  • The ball should be marked on the putting green also.
  • Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole).
  • The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.
  • If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, etc.) or the rough, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length away.
  • Each team MUST USE one of each of the four players’ tee shots during both the front and back nine holes.
  • Each scorecard MUST CONTAIN both the first and last name of each player.
  • Make a note on the scorecard to indicate whose tee shot was used on each hole.

Awards:

  • There will be awards given to the team with the lowest score.  There will also be prizes awarded to the coed team with the lowest score (i.e., containing at least one female in the foursome).
  • Individual prizes will also be given for closest to the pin, longest putt and longest drive.

Individual Competitions:

  • CLOSEST TO THE PIN:  This competition has a Women’s and a Men’s division.  The hole for the closest to the pin contest will be designated on the day of competition.  If your tee shot is on the green and closest to the hole, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest.  Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a closer shot.  Use the flag stick as a measuring rod if it is a close call.
  • LONGEST PUTT:  This competition has a Women’s and a Men’s division.  The hole for the longest putt will be designated on the day of competition.  If your putt is the longest, write your name on the marker card and place the marker on the spot you putted from.  The ball must be on the green to count.  Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a longer putt.  Use the flag stick as a measuring rod if it is a close call.
  • LONGEST DRIVE:  This competition has a Women’s and a Men’s division.  The hole for the longest drive will be designated on the day of competition.  If your drive is the longest, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest.  The ball must be in the cut fairway to count.  Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a longer drive.

Awards Presentation:

Awards and prizes will be presented at the IPLAC dinner.
